"Get busy living, or get busy dying."
The Shawshank Redemption

Possibly the most overrated film ever — still great — but not perfect, and certainly not the best of all time (lookin' at you, IMDB).

"I'm sorry I disappointed you."
A low-key thriller set in continental Europe, Greece and Istanbul, it's stylish and well acted, but not entirely gripping though sometimes suspenseful.

"In this moment, on this day, become the man you were born to be. You have it within yourself to write your own legend. Let it be to death, or Victory!"
An inspired move to retcon the legend of Hercules, and that thread of the story works brilliantly, but is let down triumphantly by the everything else (except Dwayne Johnson, who is exceptional, as always).

"The closer you are to death, the more alive you feel. It's a wonderful way to live. It's the only way to drive."
Formula One is inherently boring from a top down view, and it's perhaps why I was so skeptical of this movie, but it blew me away — shot like an action movie, you feel the speed and the danger, the actors kill it in a gripping true story.

"Do you think we choose the times into which we are born? Or do we fit the times we are born into?"
A beautiful film, well shot, exceedingly well acted, and focused on what should be the thrilling task of capturing votes to stop the civil war and end slavery, but ends up feeling flat and a little dull; I couldn't give it any less than 4 stars just because how excellent the rest of the film is, even if I didn't enjoy it…
