"If I'm guilty, it means I'm THE ultimate figure to fear because I'm not the obvious one. On the other hand — if I'm innocent — it means that everyone's vulnerable, and that's everyone's nightmare."
Amazing insight into a true crime story I was a little too young and oblivious to look into when it happened, it has gorgeous cinematography and great access (including to the crime scene footage) and deeply humanises the woman at the centre of the bungled case.
"Each year one hundred thousand baseball bats are sold in Russia, and at most 50 baseballs. Gives an idea for great Russian pastime."
A blast, the most fun I've had watching a film in a seriously long time — start to finish it doesn't stop for a second and uniquely shot all in first person like a PCP fuelled Call of Duty level.
"This is my house!"
The last couple of years have seen some great horror films that aren't just good horror films, but good films too, the team and crew behind The Conjuring films are so good, I'd love to keep watching more.
"I'm so glad you're here. We have a lot to talk about. So much to say tonight."
Magnificent, a bold and cryptic thriller, twisting and turning until it creeps under your skin and buries itself deep, building unease solidly for the entire runtime before the dramatic conclusion — a must see.
"I've got you."
A tense ride, beautiful aerial photography and great surfing shots, this builds authentically and believably making the main character empathetic and drawing you into her struggle, highly recommended.
