“Best play ever, man.”
A great comedy about the 15 year old Max Fischer, a parable, and one that’s a lot deeper than it’s whimsical facade might lead you to believe.

“People have a deep distrust of machines. Have you seen Terminator? Or 2? Or 3? Or 4?”
What I can only imagine is the output of a prototype Comedy Scriptron 3000 robot, everything about this sucks, from trying to be obscurely nerdy for the sake of it and not quite getting it right to actors looking embarrassed to be involved, it feels like an advert commissioned by Google from a filmmaker who knows nothing about adverts; or tech.

“The next drink must be earned and I’m going to tell you how. Focus closely on my instructions. I will ask you to repeat them from memory.”
An emotional slideshow, it feels like a comfortable trip playing emotions like a harp, it’s a work of genius but be prepared not to understand anything you’re watching for a large part of the movie — a rare delight, and unlike anything I’ve seen in cinema before.

“Don’t be a genius who dies young. Be one who dies old. Being old is cool. Grow old, and die old. It’s a better arc.”
A wonderful film, warm and funny in a wholly endearing way, it’s about falling in and out of love not just with people, but with places and ideas too; brilliant acting, a sublime soundtrack, and an emotionally touching watch.

“The closer you think you are, the less you’ll actually see.”
Slick and meant to dazzle with smarts, but comes across empty and devoid of logic.
