Blackly funny, there’s so much to love about this movie, one that cemented the Coens as cinematic geniuses; this film is hilarious, bleak, and understatedly adventurous.

Overrated, it’s a B movie from the 70’s that got too much attention, whose story was made up on the spot by Lucas; it’s (after-the-fact) mythos and lore are fascinating but that doesn’t detract from the bad direction, cheap-feeling sets and costumes, and Hamill’s terrible acting.

A visually impeccable turd: A big deal was made of the real science used to model the look of the black hole in the film, but we’re asked to skip over the bad exposition, plot holes, and bad black-hole/wormhole/3D library/infinite universes paradoxes, because love transcends physics and spacetime .
