A charming and wistful film about teenage neuroses and figuring them out, set in a Saturday morning detention.

“This is what happens when you break the rules of the game, Evan.” “We have to punish you!”
The only film I’ve seen this year with a real axe to grind; nasty and wholly unrepentant — worth watching for that alone, but don’t expect miracles.

“My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust.”
A spectacular anti-war war film, that beautifully captures the horrors of way and brings D-Day to life vividly;

“Memory can change the shape of a room; it can change the color of a car. And memories can be distorted. They’re just an interpretation, they’re not a record, and they’re irrelevant if you have the facts.”
Told completely out of order, Memento takes a while to unravel but with a massive payoff it’s unmissable; Nolan’s best film by a long shot, it’s bafflingly brilliant.

“If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour… you’re gonna see some serious shit.”
Charming and fun, Michael J Fox is brilliant as always in a light-hearted popcorn flick — it inspired a lot of people back in the 80s, but I think it’s power on that front has passed, to people watching it for the first time today (especially now we’re ahead of when they travel to the future) it’s an entertaining throwback to what people thought life was going to be like in 2015.
