A well tailored romp that tries to undo itself with immature humour and cartoonish villains, but doesn’t succeed in doing so simply because the action is so well done — particularly the ‘Church scene.’

Complex, brooding, and lingering, The Master is a challenging but brilliant psychological study of two men who’s paths intertwine for several years; shot beautifully and with perhaps two of the finest acting performances ever(?), it’s worth watching for that alone.

One of my favourite films: a quirky, stylish, and globe-trotting con film, perfectly cast, beautifully shot, underplayed, and written and planned so well, each con is elaborately conceived and meticulously thought out, and above all is extraordinarily fun.

Based on her experiences and those she saw and overheard at the reclusive Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere is slow but a well crafted deliberate film in the same vein as her previous Lost In Translation and features great turns by both Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning.

Some of the action is incredible, but everything else about this film is lacking.
