“What’s the law on what ya can and can’t say on a billboard? I assume it’s ya can’t say nothing defamatory, and ya can’t say, ‘Fuck’ ‘Piss’ or ‘Cunt’. That right?”
Darkly funny but also heartbreaking with Oscar-winning performances by all three leads, McDonagh’s best film yet.
“Understand this: When we lay our heads down here, we’re all prisoners.”
Profound, one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long, long time; outstanding performances and a gut-wrenching story, effortlessly beautiful cinematography, a Western that I think will be added to the canon of movie greats.
“Wolves don’t kill unlucky deer. They kill the weak ones. You fought for your life, Jane. And now you get to walk away with it.”
Another near-perfect movie from writer-director Taylor Sheridan, lots more lupine imagery and principled men doing what needs to be done against those less civil; an essential movie that I expect to stand the test of time.
“Who are we if we can’t protect them?”
Really interesting and well made genre picture from first time director John Krasinski, taught and for the first time in as long as I can remember a film so tense the entire audience in the theatre was in silence for every second of the running time.
